I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Happy International Dance Day!

I've been surrounded with an extra amount of dance lately (awesome). This past weekend my dancers were in a dance competition, where they did amazingly wonderful and I am SO crazily proud of them for their accomplishments and positive attitude.

PLUS it's International Dance Day!!!

With all that in mind, how could I not make this weeks Music Monday a song about dancing?!

I've been singing 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' all day so I did some searching of acoustic covers and I found this beautiful version by a group called NOAH. Just listen, trust me, you'll be glad you did.

Earth Day, Every Day

First of all, happy Earth Day!!! Hope you all sent some loving vibes today and everyday. Every day should be Earth Day.

But anyway, before I go on a huge rant about that, I'll keep this short and sweet.

The song we have for Music Monday this week is a special one for me. I love singing this song, although the way that I sing it is slightly different than how they sing it in the video. I learned it through campfires, and my favorite way to sing it is at a campfire or intimate musical gathering and have everyone keep a beat by tapping their chest and joining in for the "hey-ya"'s.

Mellow Monday

I Feel Home

Today I've been listening to the song I Feel Home by O.A.R. It seemed to be a good pick for todays Music Monday, as it reminds me of summer (it's coming!) and being with friends, familiar faces and places.

Yesterday I went to the dance recital at the university I just recently graduated from. It was so amazing to see my dancer friends and to watch the routines. Listening to this song today made me think of them, what a wonderful group of people! It always feels like home when you get together with your dance community, or whatever little community you have grown in.

This isn't a new song, but it's a good one! This was the only video of the recording I could find. Hope you enjoy it!

Music Monday: Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers

I'm so excited for this week's Music Monday! It was the ECMA's here this week (East Coast Music Awards) and my boy Ben Caplan took home the award for Rising Star Recording of the Year. 

I first met Ben some years ago, and it's been so amazing to watch him grow as a musician. There's no doubt that he and his unmistakable beard and roaring voice are something special! These days he's busy touring around different countries... check out his touring schedule on his website, he may be coming to a place near you!

Congrats Ben, I'm so happy for ya!

Hey Ocean! is a band from Vancouver, BC, that I discovered a few years back when they played at the Evolve music festival. Ocean themes, a feel-good vibe, and fun to dance to... I love it!
